Problem: No Hot Water
A Duncraig resident recently called PGWA to report that they had no hot water. Upon investigation, our team discovered that the cause of the issue was a burst hot water pipe. We quickly used our state-of-the-art leak detection equipment to identify the leak, which was located under the hot water system on the hot line to the house.
Solution: Repair and Maintenance
We removed the hot water system and discussed the repair options with the customer. The pipe would need to be replaced and the leak had washed the sand out from under the hot water system, so it would need to be levelled and the base secured.
PGWA also conducted a thorough inspection of all the other sections of the hot water pipe within that zone to ensure there were no further issues.
PGWA fixed the burst pipe, with new pipe and fittings and then reinstalled the sand concrete pad, providing a stable surface for the hot water system.
Testing and Water Leak Allowance Application
After the repair and installation of the hot water system, we tested to ensure no further leaks. However, the customer reported that the leak may have been ongoing for days, possibly even weeks.
PGWA suggested we file a water leak allowance application on the customers behalf. This is one of the many ways we go the extra mile for our clients. We completed the application on the customer’s behalf, potentially resulting in a refund for some of the water lost due to the leak.
The Outcome: A Satisfied Customer
The customer was thrilled with our prompt and professional service. They now have a reliable hot water system providing peace of mind for the future.
